Welcome to Laingsburg, a year-round destination situated between rugged hills and vast plains.
This friendly modern Karoo
village situated at the gateway to the Great Karoo with its proud tradition of old-fashioned hospitality has much to offer for the tourist.
San art and ancient man-made rock formations in the area shed some light on the first inhabitants. An Anglo-Boer War blockhouse, the Wolfaardt collection and historical buildings dating back to the
1800's and early 1900`s give a fascinating account of Laingsburg's more recent history. Laingsburg is a worthwhile and hospitable stop on your way through the Great Karoo.
James Douglas Logan founded Matjiesfontein in 1883. It is now a privately owned and unique historical Victorian village. Not only Olive Schreiner, a well-known South African author, but also other names belong to
Matjiesfontein's past. Moordenaars Karoo and Koup with tranquility and open skies offer the visitor the ideal opportunity for stargazing. Seweweekspoort cuts through the Majestic Swartberg and has many beautiful waterfalls that bring refreshment to the soul. Seweweekspoort remains an undiscovered gem, as every fold is a masterpiece.
